How to animate a character’s facial expressions
Facial expressions are key to adding emotion and life to your character. Start by blocking out the major expressions such as happiness, sadness, anger, etc. Add keyframes for the eyebrows, eyes, and mouth at key emotional points. Use subtle in-betweens for natural transitions, and be sure to add slight secondary movements like the head tilting or small eye darts for realism. Timing is crucial for facial expressions, as small changes can have big impacts.
